Still Sick!

Boy, this has been a horrible bug. Great Lady is still sick, and could not even go to church today when Great Sir is preaching in place of the Pastor who went to visit his family. Of course, she was afraid she would cough through his sermon and that would NOT be good. Gabriel is feeling very bad about Great Lady. He always sits right next to her when she is here, but I heard that she was up coughing every hour during most of the night and sometimes coughed for two hours on occasion. She is exhausted but seems to be at the end of the illness now. Thank goodness. It has really laid her low now for several weeks. She still suffers from a sore throat, but I am sure that is from the coughing and so are the aching ribs. On and on it goes even with cough drops and things to drink and gargle. The salt water does pretty well though, and she is trying My Lady's treatment of hot tea, honey, and lemon juice this afternoon. She is anxious to go see Granddaughter V, her husband M, and darling Wyatt tomorrow. They will be moving to Maryland, and Great Lady will miss having them near in Florida; however, they should be closer to us here in St. Louis. We will see. Got to go look at a map. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Great Lady Is Sick!

I have missed a few days because Great Lady has been very sick with a terrible cold, sore throat, and a cough that has worn her out! I am so very sorry. She came home from church Sunday afternoon, got in bed and has been there ever since. She finally got up today, but still is not good. Yesterday she coughed for three house straight. Horrible! There is some progress I am told. I don't often miss a post, but my amanuensis Great Lady was so sick that she just couldn't do much of anything but cough. We are expecting the boys from Nashville on Christmas Eve and are very excited about that. I guess I will just miss a couple of days on the blog but it is for good cause. Hard to type when you are coughing. This flue bug, and she did have her flue shot when she was supposed to have it, has really knocked out quite a few people in the church from the pastor on. Got through the cantata just fine, but then that was the end. Wanted you to know that I am fine and so are the boys. I am sad though. They have to leave today and go back to Nashville. Tell you more about our visit tomorrow. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Hiding Under My Santa Pillow!

Here I am with my head just sticking out from under my Santa pillow. You can even see Santa's hand and he is getting ready for Christmas Eve. I hope I get some good presents for Christmas. I work really hard and am generally a very good blogger. I try to be faithful to my posting, but some days I just so busy I have a hard time doing it. I was thrilled to hear that our book, and I call it our book, because my photo and the blog address is on the back of each copy, is being sold at Amazon.com and the EStore. It just got on Amazon.com and right away we had two books sold. It is exciting to wonder who bought those books. Great Lady and Great Sir were asked to sign some books they had gotten early for their grand children because they hope they will be able to take one to Italy where they are stationed and Iraq when they go since they are in the U. S. Air Force. Now that is exciting. Think of a book with my photo on it in Italy and Iraq. Another book will go to South Dakota where a grand daughter lives, so she will get a signed copy, too. Of course, My Lady's grandsons and her son and his wife will each get one signed and one will be sent to Daughter V when she moves to Maryland. Of course, I understand that people all over the world could actually buy a copy from Amazon.com. and be reading it. Wouldn't that be exciting? It is a nice story about a loving family and their dogs, especially a little girl who gets her first dog at a dog shelter, eventually have eleven dogs, and they tell about their many adventures. It is a dog lover's book. "Hear What Your Dog Says!" If you really connect with your dog, you probably can "hear" what he says and many dogs sure can "hear" you. I know that I hear and understand everything and even keep track of all this stuff so I can tell my amanuensis, and she can write this blog for you. Hope you will be hearing from me soon and reading the book. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Christmas Decoration!

Here is Dragon Hawke, the Papillion, sitting next to My Lady's pretty vase filled with shiny red and gold ornaments. It is really pretty and adds one more touch of Christmas sparkle to our home. With the lights on the balcony, the Christmas tree all decked out, the angels hanging around from the light fixture, the mantle, and on top of the tree, and we are almost ready for Christmas visitors now. I am sure My Lady will get some special treats for us and for the boys so we will be really ready for Ashton and Damien and some special food treats that their parents like, too. Oh, it will be such fun. I am not sure when they will arrive, but it will be soon...I think. Hope the special copies of "Hear What Your Dog Says!" will arrive from Amazon.com so the boys can get their special copies, too. My Lady will have to sign them later when her thumb is better, but at least they can see the books and maybe she will read some to them. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Lights Are on Tree!

I am all excited because the Christmas tree lights are all on and they look wonderful! Gentle Sir put them on the tree, and they are bright, twinkling red, green, white, yellow, and blue lights all over. They got new ones this year, and they are very pretty. Then My Lady tried to put the angel on top, she always has to have angels on everything, but she just was too short. So when Gentle Sir came home from work, he slipped her up there on the top with no problem. Now angels can be males, I know, like Gabriel and Michael, but they can be females, too, and this one sure looks like a very feminine angel. She is beautiful. My Lady has another one hanging from the mantle in the living room, and others all around our house, and even had a gorgeous angel on our Christmas cards, but this one is very definitely the one that goes on top of our tree. It will take a while to get all the ornaments on, but My Lady loves to do that. We will be ready for the boys, the grandchildren, who will be coming soon. More progress tomorrow. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie. Oh, yes, I almost forgot! Two copies of the "Hear What Your Dog Says!" our book has been purchased from Amazon.com! Imagine that! It is very thrilling to have someone buy the book My Lady and her folks have written and MY PHOTO is on the back cover along with this blog address! Hooray!

Out in the Snow!

Here I am ready to go out walking in the snow. I like my sweater, but I do NOT like the snow. It is so cold that I am frozen the first moment. My Lady has me all ready and is getting the other guys set for our walk. I go down the stairs, out the door, do my business in the first minutes and am ready to come back in. Dragon Hawke with all his fur would like to run and romp in the snow. He doesn't even need a coat, but boy am I cold. My paws are freezing and I want to go back inside. Ah! Thankfully, My Lady does not make me stay out long, and I am back inside and on the bed again. Whee! Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Dragon Hawke Admires the Tree!

Dragon Hawke is sitting here admiring the Christmas tree and thinks it is really nice. He is watching My Lady putting on the ornaments. Gentle Sir set the tree up and put the lights on it. Now My Lady has the fun of putting on the loads of ornaments. She will not have the Christmas Village up this year because space is needed for the air mattress which is a very nice cozy one for the two boys when they come for Christmas. That takes up quite a bit of room so the tables where the village stood is out for now. The tree is really starting to look pretty. I hope she will take a photo for you when she is done. I love sitting here on the back of the big chair watching. Hope your Christmas plans are going well, too. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

We Have More Snow & Sleet!

Can you believe it? We had sleet night before last and then it snowed on top of that. You should see us going out now. My Lady tries to walk on the grass so she doesn't slip and fall again. It is really wicked out there. Gentle Sir couldn't even get to work the roads were so bad. This is the way it looks out side but under the snow this time is ice. Guess lots of people are having this kind of problem. I do rather envy Great Lady and Great Sir who like it in Florida way below Frostproof where they live. They are mowing grass, and it is up to 80 degrees in the afternoon. I would really like that. I am not too happy in the snow even with my sweater on, but I did have fun in it when the boys were here. Now it is just cold and wet. Oh, well, we are getting ready for Christmas so that is wonderful. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Gabriel and His Red Pillow!

Here is Gabriel, the Chinese Crested Puff, sitting on his red pillow and getting ready for Christmas. We are all getting ready for that blessed day. My Lady has a very sore thumb from a fall last week on a slippery spot on the sidewalk and has to wear a brace on it, so things are going a bit slower with the preparations, but we keep working a bit at a time and it will all get done in time. The Christmas tree is up now and all My Lady has to do is get the ornaments on it. That is fun so she will enjoy doing that carefully so she doesn't hurt her sore thumb. Of course, today there is snow covering the sleet that occurred over night. The snow on top of the ice really makes for a slippery area, so I do hope she is careful. We have a hard time outside ourselves and have to walk carefully even in the grass. Hope things are better tomorrow. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

The Christmas Comforter!

Here I am on the bed with the shades of red and white comforter which is perfect for Christmas, too. I really enjoy being on this bed you know. I have the steps so I can get up on it anytime because it is so high that I could not even jump up here and would break my neck if I tried to jump off. It is a big four-poster bed and very comfy, so Gentle Sir got a set of steps for me so I can get up here easily. Once he made stairs with luggage and wood that we used at the other apartment, but that was hard to fit in this room, so he found a snazzy staircase which works very well. They are always thinking of me. Well, I hope they get the Christmas tree up soon now. It is not a live one, so we can put it up early and leave it up for a while. I will try to get My Lady to take a photo of that when it is done and the lights out on the balcony porch railing. I really like those lights, too. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Another Christmas Pillow!

Here is another Christmas pillow that I am getting out and ready for the holidays. My Lady has several darling pillows with Santa, angels, Christmas trees, and other things on them. She was able to buy them last year after Christmas when things were on sale so this year we have plenty of pillows which I really like. You know I love my big pink one that I can sleep on. I also like sleeping on our big bed where My Lady and Gentle Sir sleeps. There is a neat striped cover on it now that is red and white, and I really like that. I will show you a picture of that one tomorrow. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Getting Ready for Santa!

Here I am sitting on a favorite chair and notice that I am right next to Santa's picture on the pillow next to me. I am sure getting anxious for Christmas. I am thinking about all the decorations that are going up, the presents that will be under the tree when that gets put up, and the family that will be coming for the Christmas holiday. I know Santa will be good to me. He always has been, but I am trying to be very good and be ready. Got to see what other items we can get ready for the decorations. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

New Photo of Gabriel!

My Lady has been very busy taking new pictures, and here is one of Gabriel sitting on the sofa. He thinks he is one of the folk, you know. The one thing he does the best, however, is sing. When we all sing the Happy Birthday song together, Gabriel is the loudest and sings the longest. In fact, when we are done, he is still yodeling away. My Lady is concerned though because it is hard for us to sing in the apartment. She is afraid the neighbors will be upset. She is looking to find a different place for us to sing. Maybe we could try it in the car. She will try that early so that we will be ready for Daughter V's birthday which is coming up soon--on December 17th. Sure don't want to miss her big day. Great Sir, whose birthday was November 30, loved his birthday song. We were especially in good voice that day, and we all sang real nice. He was thrilled to listen to the song on the speaker phone. It was a great day! Are you looking on Amazon.com for the book "Hear What Your Dog Says!" because it is on there now with a picture two other dogs, but there is one of me on the back cover. It is a nice book for children 9-12 or any dog-lover adult. Makes a nice Christmas gift, too. See if you can find it. Do let me know. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Dragon Hawke Says Hi!

Dragon Hawke has a new picture. He says Hi and is looking forward to Christmas. He wants you to know that he has quite a few more photos that he will show you as time goes on. He likes getting his picture taken. Of course, since he is a black and white Papillion with very good markings for the breed, he really takes a great picture because his colors are so bright and nice. I am black and tan so my colors are not as bright and fancy, but I am sure a perky pup. I got some new pictures taken, too, and I will show you some of them. Now we are getting ready for Christmas. Love that as one of the very best holidays. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Playing in the Snow!

Here is a photo of Ashton and Damien, My Lady's grandsons, out playing in the snow on the Sunday after Thanksgiving when they were here visiting us. What a wonderful time we all had. They had never seen snow before nor had their mother. It was just fun. They built a snowman with their dad. It was a super time and they loved it. Then, My Lady threw a snowball and the melee began. It took no time before they figured out how to make a good snowball and they threw them back. They laughed and laughed. They hated to leave, but after they had played for a bit, they had to brush themselves off and leave for home. They had a long drive to Nashville, but they are coming again for Christmas I hope. More tomorrow with new pictures. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Goody, A Carrot for Me!

Oh, goody, I am getting my morning carrots, and they are so good. I eat my dry dogfood first and then go to My Lady who gives me one carrot. After I eat that, I can go back and she gives me another. Then, if I am good, I can get a third one. I sure do love those little carrots. Well, things are much quieter here now. We are waiting for the book to be listed and the children are gone, so now we can just do the ordinary things like get the Christmas tree up if we can figure out the best place for it to go. I will let you know how things progress. As soon as the book is listed, I will let you know how to order it if you would like. It is a really nice book and my picture is on the back cover. I am just enjoying my food now. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

New Picture of Me!

How do you like this one? My Lady has a new bed cover, and she took a picture of me in my green sweater. I think I look rather spiffy. I have other new pictures, too. She is planning to take other pictures of us doing things, but she has been so busy getting the book published that she just hasn't had too much extra time to do Also, she is learning to use this new camera, and that is a challenge, too. The book should be listed at Amazon.com soon. They are waiting to get the thumbnail sketch of the book cover and that takes five days or so they tell me. Everything else is ready, but they have to get it all right before they can list it. Won't be long now. It was published on December 4th but they did say it would take five days for the image to be inserted even though I was able to order ten copies myself. I didn't need to see the image of the cover though, so I guess that is when it will be ready and available for others to order. Whee! It is so exciting. More tomorrow. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Going to Rest a Bit!

Yesterday was so exciting with the book getting published and all that I am tired today. Got some new pictures, too, that Great Sir took when they had been here visiting in August. This is one of them. I will use some others of the ones he took as time goes by. My Lady has been very busy cleaning up for the visitors. They really do a great job before they leave, but now she is getting the place ready for Christmas. Where can she put up the tree? That is a big question. Great Sir says he is not having a tree this year but has put up lights and two wreaths at his house, and Great Lady found some pretty red bows for the post lamp and the door wreath. That all looks good I hear. Well, I will lie here for a bit and see if I come up with a good idea about the tree. We have lights on the veranda railing already. That is nice. More tomorrow. Have to think now. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

They Did It!

The three of us are here to announce that they did it! My Lady, Great Lady, and Great Sir have gotten their book, HEAR WHAT YOUR DOG SAYS! published at Amazon.com. Can you believe it? And I am on the back cover with the notice of my blog address posted, too. It is so very exciting! They have been working on it for a while now and have several more books in line now that they have learned how to get the manuscript ready, the layout for the book set, the cover, and page numbering just right and everything edited. Now they know how to do it, so others will be coming along soon. There are two more volumes of this terrific dog book as well as a whole series of another book that is almost done except for the editing and the proofing process which does take some time. Of course, My Lady is the creative one, and how! She comes up with some terrific ideas and gets them down first. Great Lady is the one who puts the manuscript into the proper format, rewrites, revises, and gets it all ready to be printed, and Great Sir is the third member of the partnership who is the business manager and does the final editing. They all finally signed off on the effort and the book was published today, December 4, 2008! It is a very exciting thing to get the first one done and ready to be ordered. Great Sir bought ten copies the first minute he could to send to family and friends, and My Lady will order some for her children and grand children, you can be sure about that. Whee! This is exciting. I will tell you more about it tomorrow. Going to celebrate now. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

I Got It!

Hooray! Hooray! I finally got my turn. Notice how nicely I am sitting and how patient I am about taking the cookie from My Lady's fingers. Oh, that is so good. I am learning patience! But it is hard. I had to wait until the last one today, so I am getting better. I will do better and be more patient so I get my turn when it comes and not have to wait until last all the time. Ummm! It is so good. I always take my cookie and run to eat it under the coffee table so no one gets it away from me. As if anyone could! Well, we have many opportunities, and I am doing better. My Lady says that you can teach old and new dogs tricks, and she has the patience to do it. Got to eat my cookie now. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Gabriel Gets a Cookie!

Just got back from our walk and Gabriel is getting a cookie from My Lady. Notice how gentle he is. I am right next to him, hard to see me, but I am not happy to be waiting. I want my cookie, too! And I have to wait because sometimes I am not too gentle. I jumped at my treat, so I did not get it but had to wait a bit longer. I will be better the next time, you can be sure about that. My Lady is wonderful and always thinking about us, but when we misbehave, she makes us mind our manners. I guess that is right. It is hard sometimes to wait for things though, isn't it? However, waiting is part of life. I am getting better about waiting. Oh, goodie! Here it comes! I am ready and waiting nicely. More tomorrow. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Dragon Hawke Ready!

Dragon Hawke is waiting for his cookie after our walk, and he is very patient. He sits and just waits until the right moment and then takes it nicely. I am always the jumping one, running around in circles waiting for my little cookie. I hate to wait so sometimes I have to learn patience. At least that is what My Lady says. Dragon Hawke is always so nice and often gets it first because he is gentle. I guess Papillions are more patient than terriers, but that always seems to be the case. Terriers are always feisty. That means that we don't take anything from anyone. We are tough! I am learning but it is hard. Maybe I will get mine soon. I am jumping and looking for it. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

A Snowball Fight!

After the singing, yesterday, My Lady said, "Oh, look! It is starting to snow!" When we all went outside we realized it had started earlier in the night and big white flakes covered the ground. Ashton and Damien had never seen snow nor had their mother V since they had always lived in Louisiana until they moved to Nashville. Don't get much there either, but here in St. Louis it sure does snow. It was beautiful! Son J, Gentle Sir, and My Lady, as well as all of us dogs had been in snow before, but this was special fun. I got my snow sweater on and so did Gabriel. Son J first made a snow man with help from Ashton and Damien. Then, My Lady made and threw the first snow ball. Well, it was havoc then! What fun we all had until My Lady slipped on a hill and fell down. She laughed but did hurt her knees. Never the less, it was a wonderful time and everyone enjoyed the snow. Then, it was time to brush themselves off and pack up the car. With tears of joy and lots of waving out the windows, the car pulled out of the apartment area, but there were promises to come back for Christmas. This sure was a great time together and everyone will be looking forward to the next visit. We all had a wonderful time together. Won't be long until Christmas, and we will be together again. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Fantastic Sunday!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with the kids all here, and Friday they went out for "wings," and Saturday night they had a great time at "Chucky Cheese!" But on Sunday, even though it was the day for them to leave, we had the most fun of all. First Son J, his wife V, Ashton, and Damien, as well as My Lady and Gentle Sir all gathered around the three of us, and we telephoned Great Sir in Florida to sing "Happy Birthday" to him on his 81st birthday! Now, I mean, we three dogs can sing and yodel like you have never heard. As soon as My Lady gets us on her lap and starts, "Happy birthday to you," Gabriel, Dragon Hawke, and I begin singing, and we really are loud. We sing through the whole song, and Gabriel doesn't even want to stop when it is over. Great Sir laughed and really enjoyed the music. Ashton and Damien never saw dogs singing before and they loved it. A great way to start the day. More tomorrow. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

More Fun!

We all got up fairly early and went for a walk. Here we are with Dragon Hawke on the left, Gabriel on the right, and I am in the middle. This is the way we always walk, but today we have My Lady, Son J, and the boys behind us. We will be walking slower than when My Lady takes us out, but this is a stroll so the boys, Ashton and Damien, can go with us. We won't go too far this time, but we are having fun. We have some games to play and will have to watch some football since Clemson University is playing and that is the place where My Lady went to school and got a PhD. Of course, her husband, Gentle Sir went there, too, and so did Brother R, his wife O, and Great Sir and Great Lady. In fact, they all taught there, at about the same time. Their "blood runneth orange!" At least that is what I have heard. R and O got PhDs and Great Sir and Great Lady went to Clemson at a rather "old" age, getting master's degrees after they retired from their regular jobs. What a family! They always have fun together. Well, we are sure having a good time now, too. Will have more turkey today and can warm up the leftovers for another wonderful meal. Time to go inside. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Having a Great Time!

Well, we ate and ate until we were full yesterday. It was wonderful! I got some turkey and a little mashed potato and just a smidgen of gravy. Yummy! The boys sure enjoyed it immensely, too. They arrived late Wednesday night and right to bed, but Thursday was a terrific time. We called Great Lady and Great Sir and everyone got to talk to them. Ashton and Damien were so cute on the phone and their daddy, Son J, had a nice visit with his grandparents on the phone. It was such a nice day. The boys got to watch cartoons on TV and played with our toys. Then, in the evening, everyone ate again on the leftovers. Goodness, everyone was full and ready for an early night in bed. It had been a great day. Hope your Thanksgiving was worthy, too. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Smells So Good!

It sure does smell good in here! Gentle Sir got the big, twenty-three pound turkey stuffed with a special recipe that Great Lady taught My Lady and Gentle Sir to make, because he is really the chef and it takes a strong man to lift that big bird. The stuffing recipe was handed down from Great Lady's family over many years. They all really love it. Then Gentle Sir put the bird in the oven because it takes quite a few hours for it to cook. It is so exciting because Son J, his wife V, Ashton, who is five, and Damien who is three, arrived late last night after driving from Tennessee. They were really tired and slept late this morning, but I was up watching what was going on. Of course, My Lady peeled a load of potatoes to whip later, and had celery, carrots, radishes, and olives for the relish platter which is always served. She also got the cranberries with berries in it chilling and ready to serve later. It will be a glorious meal when it is done. I sure hope I get a little turkey and maybe a taste of the stuffing. We don't get a lot of table scraps and usually eat our own food, but on special occasions like this we sometimes get some of the goodies. Oh, it sure does smell wonderful. I can hardly wait! Hope you are having a good time, too. Have a blessed Thanksgiving. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Dragon Hawke Was Naughty!

Dragon Hawke was naughty today! My Lady was talking to Great Lady on the phone after taking us all out for our walk. All of a sudden, Dragon Hawke went over to the pretty glass vase full of red and gold Christmas ornaments that sits right next to the sansiveria plant there by the fire place, lifted his leg, and wet on the vase! My Lady was aghast! DRAGON HAWKE, NO! WHAT ARE YOU DOING! She was sitting right there on the sofa across from the fireplace and she saw him just go and do it! She even has a piddle pad in the bedroom in a corner just in case they are gone too long or there is an emergency for one of us, but this was just a case of showing his stubborn independence. Sometimes he can be very much of a willful wise guy who will just show off. It is one thing to be a puppy and not know what you are doing, but he is five and sure has been trained. He knows that it just was not a good thing to do. She had to Lysol and clean everything, and here we are expecting company tomorrow. She has worked to have the carpets cleaned and everything just right. Then, this! Well, he will be non gratia for a while. I am much younger, but I sure know better than that! Hope you have a nice Thanksgiving. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Our Balcony!

This is a picture of our balcony that I showed you when we moved into this apartment. Now, we are going to put up Christmas lights along the railing of this balcony which surrounds a very nice veranda porch. It is right off the living room with sliding doors so we can see it from inside and go out there easily. One day we are planning to have a couple of chairs and a grill for My Lady and Gentle Sir, but now it primarily belongs to us dogs. We can go out there, when the doors are open slightly, and it is wonderful when it is not too cold. I love the area and will enjoy seeing the lights on the rail. When you are out there, you can see a lot of the other apartments, too, as well as the people and dogs that pass by below, and really know what is going on in the complex. It will be great to see all the Christmas decorations that will be going up soon. Got to see what My Lady is doing to get ready for Thanksgiving. We are having company, you know! It is so very exciting. Anxious for the boys to come. We have fun together now. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Sunday Again!

Sunday again and we are home resting while My Lady and Gentle Sir are at church. It sure is a day of rest for us. I know Great Lady and Great Sir are busy in their church, too. Today is their day to put the Christmas tree up in church to be ready for Advent which I understand starts next Sunday. They will sure be busy now, but Great Lady always has time for me. I just let her know what I am thinking and doing, and she writes it off for you. I also hear that she is really involved getting the books redone and ready for publishing. It is amazing how many things have to be done to get a book just right, getting the start of each chapter on the odd pages as well as the title page, the table of contents all on the odd pages, and be sure that it ends on an even page. That is just one of the many rules that are involved. I hear that she has two books close to ready. Hoping for the one about the dogs will be ready for Christmas gifts. I sure want to receive one. More tomorrow. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Really Been Cold!

Boy, it has really been cold here! I hate going outside when it is this cold and it isn't even winter yet. I do have a little coat, but it takes so long to get into it and out of it, and my feet still get very cold. Oh well, we don't stay out long. Then, I have to get out of my coat, but I am really glad to have it when I get outside. Oh, well, it sure is nice and warm in our apartment. We even have a gas heater that is wonderful. I guess we will manage okay. More tomorrow. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Proof Copy Looks Good!

The proof copy of Hear What Your Dog Says! looks good at first glance, so after we peruse it once more, we will order the book to be published and available at Amazon.com. I want you to know that my photo, this one, is on the back of the book where the authors are listed with a little blurb about them. I belong to one of the three authors, My Lady, who is really Linda, and she takes the pictures of me, Gabriel, and Dragon Hawke for the blog, sends them via the computer to Great Lady, LaVerne (a.k.a. Bunny) and she is my amanuensis, doing the writing for me as I tell her to do. Therefore, my blog address is on the back of all their books. Great Sir, Thomas, is the business manager and final editor of this trio, but he doesn't have anything to do with the blog. He is not too fond of computers even though he can use them. The trio sure do produce good books, especially this one about dogs. It is getting really close to being fully PUBLISHED FOR SALE! Give them another few days for the final reading, but it really looks very good. I think it is ready, but they have the final say. How exciting it is. I want one book to be sold because then they will be PROFESSIONAL AUTHORS! You do know that you can be an author, but selling a book for money makes one a professional author. I don't do too much with writing the books, but I sure do tell people about them and about the terrific authors. More tomorrow! Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Gabriel Says, "I am Waiting for Thanksgiving!

Gabriel is very excited about Thanksgiving coming because we have heard that Son J and his wife V as well as their boys, Aston and Damien, will be coming next week. I was in dread the first time they came, but now we are all looking forward to it because the boys are older and no longer chase Gabriel's tail and try to hold me all the time. They are really fun to play with and they love our toys. My Lady also makes special food and has good treats for everyone, so I especially like that, too. I am in the center of attention so I look forward to that fun, as well as Gabriel does. I think they will be here by Wednesday of this coming week. Looking forward to that. Love from Gabriel and Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Dragon Hawke with a Toy!

I have been very busy hearing about the books. The dog book, Hear What Your Dog Says! should be here soon in proof format. Then some final editing has to be done and hopefully the final book will be published. I am patiently waiting, but Dragon Hawke is just not as involved as I am. He is chewing on a toy. Of course, I am more involved with the writing of things;whereas, he is more "cat-like" and likes to play rather than work with his mind. I will say though, he can be very canny when he wants to be and clever about figuring things out. He is the creative one while I am more involved with the writing. Got to go. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Two Books Done!

Can you believe it? My Lady, Great Lady, and Great Sir have finished writing two books to be published! They are now waiting for the final proof copies to be sent, and if they are okay, they will get the books printed and done to be on sale at Amazon.com. If all goes well, I will let you know when that occurs. Right now they are ecstatic! I am sure you can imagine how exciting it is for the three of them. You know that My Lady is the creative one in the partnership and comes up with the ideas and most of the dialogue, Great Lady is the editor and writer for publication of the manuscripts, and Great Sir is the business manager and final editor of the books. They really work well together and have several more books as well as two more volumes for each of the books they have written already almost all set for the final editing. They will work to send for their proof copies, too, if the first ones sell at all. Well, it has been pretty hectic here for the last few days with all the phone calls and final decisions. My Lady has always wanted to be considered a "professional author" and now she is one. I can't wait to see a copy of "Hear What Your Dog Says!" and a copy of "Crossbreed" on our coffee table soon. Tell you more about them in the near future. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Playing with My Good Toy!

I love to play with this neat toy. My octopus is getting much smaller, but it is still fun. It used to be a real octopus with eight legs, but you can see the legs have all come off and only a few of them are left in pieces. They are a tough rubber and hold together pretty good, once they came off the head part. Maybe My Lady will find me another octopus some day, but I still have fun with this one's legs. I can shake my head and flap that leg around real good, growling all the time. I am so tough! Many toys are too big, or too hard to hold in my small mouth. And some are just too delicate and tear to pieces so easily that they are not a challenge. This one has been great for a long time, too. Great Lady brought me that nifty shocking green one that squeaked. I was so excited about it, but it didn't last any time with Gabriel. He had the squeaker out in no time and there was the green cloth with no insides at all. What a disappointment! The octopus has been my favorite toy for a long, long time. More tomorrow. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Now It Is My Turn!

Now it is my turn to get brushed! I don't mind it at all because My Lady can use a softer, bristle brush on my silky fur, and it just shines. I love to stand and let her brush my fur because it doesn't get as matted and tangled as Gabriel's does, and it sure isn't as thick as Dragon Hawke's. I am easier to bathe and much easier to brush, so you see, a Yorkshire Terrier is really a great dog to have, and a Teacup Yorkie is really great. I am small and just darling, if I do say so myself. Well, we can have a nice day today. We dogs take it slow while My Lady and Great Sir go to church. Then, we all watch football and have a very pleasant time together. A great day! Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Dragon Hawke Was Next!

The brushing was still going on, and Dragon Hawke was next. He is actually the hardest one because his fur is so thick and he just doesn't like it. He has to stand still, and My Lady uses the wire brush on him, stripping some of the loose fur off because he does shed. Of course, now with cold weather coming, he does not shed at all but is growing a nice thick coat. His rear legs, one with a black pantaloon and the other one white, look very nice when they are brushed out, but he especially hates that part and having his tail brushed into a pretty plume is the worst part. He always grooms his paws like a cat does, but My Lady insists that the rest of him be clean and pretty, too. He abides with it for a cookie, but is glad when it is over. My turn tomorrow. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

The Brushing!

After the baths comes the brushing. First Gabriel get a good brushing and must have the matted fur cut out of his ears. He doesn't like that much, but he sits still for it. Then, the plumes in his tail have to be brushed with a wire brush so they are really pretty. You can imagine that he whines a bit when that is going on, but he knows he must sit and be patient. He is doing much better, but still fusses when his paws are brushed, even when My Lady is very careful and gentle. He really doesn't have a lot of fur, but much more than a Chinese Crested Baldie. The Puffs are prettier if I do say so myself. He does look really nice though when he is finished. Then, he gets a cookie. A treat is really good for that big job. Actually, My Lady does all the work and she is the one who should get the cookie. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

To the Grassy Area!

We went for a run at the grassy area today. This is a neat place where we can run around and play. We can be off leash if there are no other dogs here, like today, but if there are some, My Lady will not let me off leash because I am too snappy with the other dogs. Gabriel gets nervous if he is near other dogs and is off leash, and Dragon Hawke just flies around and is hard to catch. I ran off once and was worried that I would not find my way back, but that was on the street. My Lady was frantic, so that does not happen any more. Here though, on a good day, we can run and play and have fun. Soon as another dog comes, however, we are leashed up again and go home. Of course, I am always afraid I will get stepped on because I am small, but I am afraid I do act like a tiger and attack if I have a chance. My Lady says I have the nerve of a bull mastiff but the strength of a flea. Oh, well, she loves me and I know it. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Heavy Cleaning Today!

Today My Lady is cleaning the carpeting and the bathrooms, after our baths, and getting ready for Thanksgiving guests. She really works at having a nice clean, fresh-smelling house. I must say that we do cause her to do extra work because Dragon Hawke, the Papillion, really sheds his fur, especially in the summer, but now he is growing more fur and thicker because it is really getting cold in Missouri. Gabriel, the Chinese Crested Puff, has little fur, but he is NOT bald like most of the Cresteds are. So he does not shed, and I don't shed either. Of course, I am so small that I don't have much fur ever, but I am cute. At least that is what Great Lady says. We are getting ready for Uncle J and Aunt V and the BOYS to come. Ashton will be out of school for a week, so he and Damien will be here for several days I think and we will have a great time. Gentle Sir will cook the turkey (he is a great chef) and My Lady makes yummy mashed potatoes and the best gravy. I will get some of that I am sure. Today though we have to get the heavy cleaning done. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

My Lady Was Exhausted!

Here I am all washed and brushed waiting to dry. My Lady worked so hard, kneeling and washing Gabriel and Dragon Hawke in the bath tub. That is a real chore, as I told you yesterday; however, I can be washed in just a few minutes and behave so well that it is a piece of cake. Don't I look nice? My Lady was sitting nearby resting after all this, but she is such a caring one that I am very glad she is My Lady. On the other hand, I heard that Great Lady has made me business cards. They are darling. They have my picture, of course, the one that heads my profile, and names and addresses, but most importantly, they have my blog address so people can get in touch with me. I understand that they are going to include the darling cards, printed on yellow heavy-weight paper, in the Christmas cards with the letters that Great Lady writes and sends every year. Isn't that exciting? We plan to send for the final proof copy of our book, "Hear What Your Dog Says! this week. It should be ready for Christmas, too. Whee! Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Getting a Bath!

Gabriel is getting his bath and Dragon Hawke and I are waiting. My Lady is going to clean the bathrooms and that is a big cleaning that she does, especially before guests come, so before that occurs, we get baths. Gabriel is always the one that cries and whines if you touch his paws and hates the bath, so My Lady takes him first. Usually Dragon Hawke goes next, and then I am in line. I am always good and really even enjoy the bath. Of course, I don't have as much fur as the other two, and Dragon Hawke's fur is really thick so it is hard to get him soaped and then rinsed. I am easier and faster, so when it is my turn, we are almost done. Maybe we will even get a treat afterward. At least, I know My Lady will love to have me on her lap because I always smell so sweet then. It is worth the bath. That is the truth! Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

A Day of Rest!

This is Sunday and that is the day we often rest a great deal. Usually, My Lady and Gentle Sir go to church and then out for lunch, so we are left home to listen to TV and take it easy. They go shopping afterward for groceries if they have not been able to do a big shopping on Saturday. Then they come home and put all the things away in time to watch football games. We even like the games and especially the fact that My Lady and Gentle Sir get so excited about who wins and loses. My Lady always likes the Packers because she is from Wisconsin originally, and the whole family were Packer Backers, but now with Farve playing for the Jets, she is very interested in the way they do, too. Of course, since we moved to St. Louis, she is getting used to St. Louis's team and feels very much like she should be rooting for them. I don't understand all these ideas, but I love having them home and sitting with us all day. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Good Natured Gabriel!

Here is quiet, good natured Gabriel, the Chinese Crested Puff. Of course, he is the oldest of the three of us, and is very content to sit on Gentle Sir's knee. He rarely barks, unless we have someone knock on the door, and usually he minds his own business. He is the gentle one to go along with Gentle Sir. Now I, on the other hand, am a little firebrand, much like My Lady, who adores me. I have spunk, which she appreciates, and love to lie on her lap or in bed right next to her head, cuddling under the blankets. She is a "mover and a shaker," always working to get things done, and I am very much like that too. I guess you could say I am dynamite in a small package. Don't upset me, take my very own toys, or try to get my carrots. If you do, I will snap and fly off the handle. I guess I am like My Lady in that, too. We are a pair. Great Lady and Great Sir are the older ones who have slowed down now. They are working on the book and are almost ready to say, "Publish it!" Whee! Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

The Barker!

Guess who was out on the veranda yesterday, and was barking up a storm when some people with a dog passed by on the sidewalk below? Yes, the veranda is on the second floor, and Dragon Hawke, the Papillion, was out there in the nice weather and when people walked by, he barked and barked and had to be scolded. My Lady, when the barking is for nothing and is very annoying, she will pick up her water gun and usually that is all it takes. Dragon Hawke never even gets wet, but just seeing it makes him behave and bow his head in apology. He then looks up at you with those big eyes and long eye lashes and gets your sympathy. He does, however, stop barking. It is one thing if he is protecting the house and some one bangs on the door, but when people are far off and not bothering anyone, he needs to stop the barking immediately when told. My Lady is a very good disciplinarian, you know. I had a bit of disciplining yesterday, too. I did not want to go out for our walk, so I sat at the top of the steps and would not go. My Lady called me several times, but I didn't go. Well, when they came in, I did not get my cookie, and I got NO CARROTS! I hated that. I went out today right away and things were much better. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

What an Uproar!

We look so docile here as we are on a walk, but we three can really get rowdy! Yesterday Great Lady was talking to My Lady on the phone when a man came to the door to deliver a package. He rang the bell and oh my gosh! What a racket we caused. Great Lady yelled on the phone, "What is going on?" She was sure My Lady was being attacked. The barking and snarling was awful. I must say that we caused a real scene. My Lady, still with phone in hand, opened the door a crack, keeping her foot at the bottom to keep the door from opening and so we could not get outside. "What do you want?" she asked. The man, a bit shaken, said he had a package. My Lady was suspicious because she had expected nothing. Come to find out, when he read the address loudly over our uproar, because we were still barking and carrying on, it was the wrong apartment complex totally. The man turned around and ran down the hall and scooted down the stairs so fast it was amazing. He was glad he did not have to face us. Great Lady, when she heard what happened, just roared herself laughing. "I wonder if he could tell how big you were. You sure sounded like bull mastiffs or pit bulls." I guess he won't come back again ever. Hope that if My Lady does get a package delivered, they will send someone else. Well, everything settled down as quickly as it began. My Lady and Great Lady then had a big conversation as they usually do. More tomorrow. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Things Are Back to Normal!

As you can see, Dragon Hawke, the Papillion, is back chewing on a toy from the blue basket. I guess all the excitement about elections is gone and we are back to normal now.We can go on about our business as usual. I am still busy with the books; therefore, I don't have time today for toys. The proof copy is coming for Hear What Your Dog Says! and I will be busy reading it for errors. That is a big job. It is a neat book about dogs. My Lady, Great Lady, and Great Sir have produced a really fine book about the first dogs My Lady and her brother had when they were very young. My Lady had a darling dog she got from the pound, and her brother had an AKC registered Wire Haired Fox Terrier and what wonderful adventures they had. As soon as the book is ready and on the market, I will tell you more about it. You may want to get it from Amazon.com. If you like dogs and good family stories, you will love it. Well, got to get back to work. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

At Attention!

I am waiting for the election results. What a time this is. My Lady and Gentle Sir will vote today, but, of course, Great Lady and Great Sir voted as early as possible. They go to the government building in Florida on one of the first days, get their voting done in a nice orderly way, and then they go in and get the car license taken care of for the year because both are done in the same place. Everyone is so nice and Great Lady can sit down and vote. They study all the amendments and are ready when they go in to vote. Now we just have to wait and see. Hope you all get out and vote, too. I love President Bush's Scottys in the White House. They are so cute, and terriers, you know. I wonder if the new president will have dogs. We will have to check that out later. Will write more tomorrow. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

PS. It was nice to get a comment from Commander Cody. He likes my blog. I hope to have more dogs visiting me on my post, too.

Things Are Better Today!

Well, things are better today! We received word that the proof copy of our book has been shipped, so it should be here in a few days. I can hardly wait! If it is good, we will get it published very soon. I may try to change my url address because people have a very hard time finding my blog. I guess the hyphens create a problem, but I hate to change it for the ones who do know where I am. What an enigma! My life seems to be a series of problems to figure out all the time. Should I change the title or not? If so, to what do I change it? I used to have it Kheldar's Yorkie Blog, but that was a problem, too. Who could stumble onto Kheldar? Well, we made it http://yorkshire-terrier-blog/. However, as I said, who knows to look things up on the web using hyphens? It is a dilemma. Got any ideas? I have some good ideas about sharing some of our book with you so you can see if you might like it, but want to get the blog out to more people first, if I can. Write a comment and let me know. Well, got to get back to work now. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.
