I Am Sad!

I am very sad. I have tears in my eyes because Great Lady's younger sister Charlene went to be with the Lord last night. My Lady is so upset because, as you know, Great Lady is the mother of My Lady, and what affects Great Lady sure affects My Lady and me. I understand that a week ago, she went to work all day as usual, came home, fixed her supper, and just slipped and fell right in her own kitchen. She broke her leg and was taken to the hospital by the paramedics. Then after surgery and a week in the hospital, she was doing great, up walking with a walker. But on Saturday she did not feel well and on Sunday she suddenly became very ill and passed away. It was so sudden and such a terrible shock that we are all stunned. I hear that they will all be involved with the visitation and funeral, so I will have to just sit here quietly and be patient. If you don't hear from me for a few days, you will know that nothing is quite right around here. I will be very sad and just not up to my sparkling self. I will get back in touch as soon as I can. I hope you will miss me. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

A Quiet Sunday!

Today is a nice quiet day and everyone is home. I do like Sundays. Even when My Lady and Gentle Sir go to church, shop on the way home, it still is a nice quiet day afterward, and we enjoy our time of rest. I like my pillow. Gabriel is on his gray pillow, and Dragon Hawke is on the back of the big chair. Of course, the TV is on, but they usually leave it on a good movie without ads while they are gone so we are not "alone." Then, My Lady enjoys a good movie with Gentle Sir unless it is football season. Of course, the special NFL pregame is on tonight, so they will most likely watch that. I know Great Sir, who is in South Dakota, will watch that tonight, too. He really loves all football games, from college to pros. Then, after the game or the next day at the latest, My Lady and her dad talk football for a good long while. It is nice and peaceful though now. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Going for a Walk!

Here we are going for a walk. You can see Dragon Hawke, the Papillion, on the left and Gabriel, the Chinese Crested Puff on the right, and, if you look real hard, there I am again, in the middle. We were not moving along, so I was looking backward to see where My Lady was. This time, Gentle Sir was with her so they had stopped to look at something. I knew things were different. They just mosey along when they are together walking us. When My Lady is alone, she just moves right along, and we walk like she did when she lived in Germany, many years ago. They called it a "volk's march," or something like that. She is all business, but when they walk together, it is more of a stroll. I like that, especially since I am so small and my legs are short. I really have to run most of the time while the other two just meander along. Well, this will be a nice stroll today. Looking forward to it. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

A Difference!

Notice the difference: I am a little spot on the pillow on the big chair, snuggled into the pillows, and Dragon Hawke, the Papillion, is on top of the back of the chair as high as he can get. He loves to be on top of everything. I look like a little gray spot and sometimes even snuggle under the pillow a bit if I am chilly. Of course, if possible, I would rather be sitting on My Lady's lap. Dragon Hawke, however, would prefer to sit on her shoulder. He is so funny. Hard to believe this is the beginning of August already. Whee! Gentle Sir will be home all day tomorrow and Sunday. Gabriel will be especially happy about that. Have a nice weekend. Good Carrots!

Glad My Lady is feeling better, and I am back on my routine again. I have had my big meal of dry food, and when I am finished eating it, I go to see My Lady who will give me a little carrot. They are small, but so am I. I usually get three carrots, one at a time and must finish one before I get the next one. Gosh, they are sure good--just good fresh, crispy carrots. No wonder I have such a shiny coat and sparkling eyes! Dragon Hawke seems fine today, but still is pouting over losing what he thought was a providential meal. Sometimes what we think is just terrific can turn out to be very bad for us. Glad My Lady knows which is which. She says that the Lord provides and watches over us. If she says so, it is true. I am glad the Lord got me into her care though. I am sure blessed. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

An Awful Problem!

A dreadful thing happened to my dear "brother" Dragon Hawke, the Papillion. My Lady was a little better, and we went for a walk. Suddenly, Dragon Hawke stopped and grabbed a bite of something on the side of the road in front of our apartment. My Lady quickly realized something was awfully wrong and grabbed Dragon Hawke, put her fingers into the dogs gagging mouth, and started to pull pieces of chicken bones out of her mouth. Someone driving by had tossed pieces of old chicken out as trash on the road, and the dear dog, thinking it was something great, gobbled it up. My Lady, with us other dogs pulling at our leashes, not realizing how serious this was, kept getting the bones out of Dragon Hawke's mouth and throat, shaking all the while. Some of the bones were two inches long, dry and brittle, and could have caused great trouble if they had gone into the intestines. At least, a vet bill would have been very expensive and most likely surgery would have been essential to save the dog's life. Still he may have died. All this could have happened because some unthinking person had tossed this piece of old chicken leftovers out where a dog could get it so easily. This is an area where many have dogs they love. Thankfully, My Lady is quick and reacted so well that she got all of the garbage out, I hope. Of course, now Dragon Hawke looks at her with disdain because she prevented him from a tasty tidbit, at least this is what he thinks. He doesn't know what a perilous spot he had been in with all that stuff in his mouth. Please, be careful with the stuff you toss out and allow some innocent pet to find. Throw it in a secure trash bin, and save a darling dog's life. I shudder to think that I may have lost this darling dog and friend. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.

Here We Are in Bed Alone!

Here we dogs are in the big bed alone. I am happy to say that My Lady is taking a shower and is able to be up and around a bit. She won't be lifting things or scrubbing, but her back is somewhat better, and she does not have to stay in bed. You can hardly see me on the big bed because I am so small, and we are in the midst of all the roses. If you look hard, in the midst of all the flowers, you can see Gabriel and Dragon Hawke, too. My Lady loves roses and has silk ones in pretty vases, pink ones here on the bed spread, small rosy ones embroidered in the sofa and chair upholstery, and even big red ones on the shower curtain. She loves the fragrance of roses and has perfume that smells just like the rose garden Great Lady used to have at her old house. She no longer has real ones because the roses do not like to grow well in the hot, humid weather in Florida, where she and Great Sir live now. Great Lady decided to get silk roses, too, that are easier than growing real ones. They sure don't smell as good though. I am so happy My Lady is doing better. I am taking very good care of her and know she will be just fine soon. Love from Kheldar, the Yorkie.
